After enough runs, Arbiter of Ash starts to feel less like a clean endgame challenge and more like a tax on your patience. The fight can be beaten, sure, but that's not really the point. Players usually come to bosses for tight mechanics, decent pacing, and a fair shot at profit, especially when they're trying to build up POE 2 Currency through repeat farming. Arbiter misses that mark. Before you even swing at the boss, you're already dealing with extra steps, awkward travel, fragment handling, and a slow ride into the arena. Do that once and it's a small annoyance. Do it twenty or thirty times and it becomes the thing you remember most.

The Fight Wastes Too Much Time

The setup wouldn't sting so much if the encounter itself got going quickly, but it doesn't. There's an intro you can't skip, then phase moments where the boss just stops being a target, and then more downtime while you wait for the game to let you play again. None of this feels like difficulty. It's just dead air. A good boss can have drama, but repeated farming changes how players see those scenes. What looked impressive the first time becomes a delay on the tenth attempt. When every run has a buy-in cost, standing around while animations play feels rough.

The Arena Works Against Some Builds

The arena is huge, and that sounds helpful until you're actually in there. A wide space can give room to dodge, but it also spreads the fight out in ways that punish certain builds. Area damage can feel oddly unfocused. Melee players may spend too much time chasing instead of hitting. Even ranged characters can lose rhythm when the boss moves or becomes awkward to track. The result is a fight that doesn't always feel hard in a satisfying way. It feels messy. You're not just reading mechanics; you're fighting the room, the camera, and the pacing at the same time.

The Mechanics Don't Teach Cleanly

The most annoying part is how the encounter trains you to respond one way, then later makes that same instinct dangerous. In phase one, you learn certain visual cues and safe spots. Then phase two can twist that expectation and punish you for doing what previously worked. Some players enjoy that kind of bait, but here it often feels unclear rather than clever. Deaths don't always leave you thinking, "I know what I did wrong." Sometimes it's more like, "Wait, why did that kill me?" That's a bad feeling in a boss that already takes time and resources to access.

The Rewards Don't Match the Effort

Loot is where Arbiter really loses people. Most drops don't cover the cost in any exciting way, and the run often depends on hitting one rare jackpot. Prism of Belief can be worth a fortune, but if you don't see it, the rest of the table can feel flat. That turns the boss into a gamble rather than a steady farming plan. Compared with mapping, Ritual, or organised Temple runs, it's simply less consistent for most players. If you still want to chase it, keep expectations low, protect your budget, and consider whether it's smarter to buy POE2 Items for upgrades while spending your actual playtime on content that pays out more reliably.
