Early Access is always a bit messy, and Path of Exile 2 has had its share of "why did that just happen?" moments. Patch 0.4.0h (plus a fast hotfix right after) feels like the team taking a broom to some of the worst dust bunnies, especially the crash stuff that's been killing sessions mid-map. If you've been keeping an eye on trading and upgrades, it also helps to know what's changing around drops and value, since PoE 2 Currency ends up tied to how smoothly you can keep your build moving when the game stops falling over every hour.

A bunch of the fixes are the unglamorous kind, but they're the ones you notice instantly. That random client crash when you opened the member list for a huge guild is now handled, which is great if you're in one of those mega communities. They also tackled the classic PoE issue where the screen fills with ground item labels and the client just gives up. And for PS5 players, that nasty crash that kicked people straight to the console dashboard is finally addressed, which should make longer play sessions feel less like a gamble.

On the gameplay side, there are a couple of "thank you" fixes. Divine Orbs not rerolling ring size on Controlled Metamorphs wasn't some hidden rule; it was simply broken, and now it's behaving like you'd expect. The bigger deal for a lot of campaign runners is Abyss quest events. Previously, if you out-leveled the area, the event could just refuse to spawn. So you'd be stuck, even though you were doing everything right. Now those events can show up properly again, which means you can grind, over-level, and still progress without second-guessing your route.

Some of the fiddly build pieces got tuned as well. Wolf Pack, Cackling Companions, Last Gasp Support, and Teorod's Revenge Support had odd interactions that could go sideways when combat got busy. The patch aims to make those setups more consistent, which is what you want when a build is already juggling timings, summons, and resources. Controller players also got real quality-of-life help: stash tabs failing to load was brutal, and it's been fixed. There's also a fix for toggling tracking on the Prison Waygate Map Device with a pad, which used to be weirdly unreliable.

Hotfix 1 came in quick because Wolf Pack had a nasty Spirit reservation bug, where your Spirit stayed locked until you physically pulled the gem. That kind of thing can make a build feel broken even if the rest of your setup is solid, so it's good they didn't let it sit. With the worst crashes and a few progression blockers out of the way, the game's loop feels steadier, and you can focus on gearing instead of troubleshooting; if you're trying to keep upgrades flowing without wasting time, a marketplace like U4GM can be useful for sourcing currency and items so you're not stalled out when a patch reshuffles what's efficient to farm.
